Creator Copyright Protection

MyRoomz Creator Copyright Protection & Enforcement Guide

Introduction

At MyRoomz Pty Ltd, we empower Australian Creators by giving them control and ownership of the Content they produce and share on our platform. This guide outlines in high level terms how copyright works under Australian law, how to protect your Content, what to do if your work is stolen, and how MyRoomz supports you.

Words used as defined terms in this guide but not defined take their meaning from the Terms of Use.

1. Your Copyright Rights

Under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth), Creators automatically own the copyright to any original Content they create. This includes:

Videos

Photographs

Voice recordings

Livestreams

Written Content, text, captions, or original scripts

You do not need to register for copyright in Australia—it exists as soon as your original work is created and recorded in some way (e.g., photo taken, video recorded, etc.).

Creators must not upload Content they do not fully control or Content bound by exclusive licensing agreements with third parties.

2. MyRoomz Content License

By uploading Content to MyRoomz, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to:

Host, display, and stream your Content within our platform

Use your Content for promotion or platform features (with your permission)

This license does not transfer ownership of your copyright. You remain the rights-holder.

3. Tips to Protect Your Content

We recommend these best practices:

Use watermarks: Add your username or “MyRoomz” ID visibly on Content

Avoid third-party logos or music to prevent accidental copyright claims

Keep backups with date stamps

Add metadata to your files (e.g., date created, author name)

MyRoomz provides a built-in watermarking tool for Creators. This discourages unauthorised sharing.

MyRoomz may implement optional Content fingerprinting in the future to detect reuploads and assist Creators in tracking unauthorised sharing outside the platform.

4. If Your Content is Stolen

If you discover your Content being shared outside MyRoomz without permission:

Gather evidence: Take screenshots or video with visible URLs

Email takedown@myroomz.co with:

Your username and account email

Link to the stolen Content

Proof of original ownership (e.g. file metadata, upload date, screenshots)

We will issue a takedown notice to the hosting website based on your complaint

We may assist further by reporting it to:

The eSafety Commissioner via their NCII portal

Law enforcement if required

We will use reasonable endeavours to investigate and act within 72 hours of receiving a valid complaint. MyRoomz may prioritise reports involving non-consensual intimate images, minors, large-scale piracy or law-enforcement referrals and may decline to take action where the evidence provided is incomplete or the material is hosted entirely off-platform.

5. AI, Deepfakes, and Impersonation

We strictly prohibit:

Uploading or creating Content using AI or synthetic tools to impersonate others

Using a person’s image, voice, or likeness without Consent

Altering real Content to appear like another individual

This may violate not only copyright law but also privacy and impersonation laws under Australian criminal codes.

6. Co-Creators and Group Content

If Content includes more than one person, all participants must provide signed Consent, and any revenue-sharing agreements are the sole responsibility of the Creator(s). MyRoomz accepts no liability for l disputes that may arise between Creators or other persons involved in Content.

7. Infringement by Subscribers or Third Parties

Subscribers are granted personal viewing rights only. They must not:

Share, record, or download Content

Repost your work anywhere

Claim Content as their own

Violations may lead to:

Immediate account ban

Legal reporting

Possible civil or criminal penalties

MyRoomz may also withhold or reverse Creator payouts connected to infringing activity, or require the Creator to provide additional proof of ownership, before releasing funds.

Accounts that are the subject of repeated valid takedown notices may be permanently suspended under our repeat infringer policy.

8. Reporting and Dispute Resolution

Creators may report misuse or copyright violations at any time to:

Email: support@myroomz.co or takedown@myroomz.co

In-platform report tool (coming soon)

If you disagree with a takedown or infringement claim against you, you can submit a Counter Notice, including:

Your details

Why you believe the claim is incorrect

Supporting documentation

We will assess and escalate as necessary.

Refunds will not be issued due to Content takedown claims unless required by law. All disputes should follow the takedown and appeal process.

9. External Enforcement in Australia

If necessary, you may also pursue legal enforcement via:

Appropriate Federal Court jurisdiction (for civil claims)

eSafety Commissioner for NCII

ACORN or AFP for criminal copyright theft or impersonation

You may also wish to consult an intellectual property lawyer. MyRoomz can provide a legal referral if requested.
